Sup future EMT students, Amanda here with a blogpost to prep you for the start of your course. Today, I’m talking about the class time essentials you need. The great thing about this list is that many of you own these items and already have them laying around your home, so you won’t need to shell out any extra cash to buy them. Let’s jump right in and see if you have everything you need to be a successful EMT student.
Notebooks, laptop, and a lot of flashcards.
Whether you like taking notes via typing or handwriting, make sure you have a spot to jot down the little extra information your instructor emphasizes during class. Taking notes is a great way to minimize class time distractions and summarize all ideas needed before starting a practice test.
Pens, highlighters, and pencils.
This goes without saying— but don’t forget to have a couple pencils, colorful pens, red pens, and highlighters handy. Pencils are good for drawing out diagrams. Pens for definitions. Red pens are great for correcting your practice exams. Highlighters will point out the stuff that you’re instructor keeps emphasizing so you won’t forget!
A positive attitude to keep you going.
Keeping your spirits high is the most necessary class essential on this list. There will be times you’ll be tested to your absolute limits but its up to you to stay focused on your goal as a life saver. Nourish your mind with positive thoughts and affirmations to keep you in the game. The path is not meant to be easy. You got this.
Thanks for reading, everyone. I’m happy you’ve chosen to begin your EMT path. Let us know how you’re preparing for your brand new EMS course in the comments. We’d love to hear how you’re prepping.
Happy studying.
